Cloud Window Weaving Card

Hi everyone! I hope that you're all having a good day! I have a really neat card to share today that features a fun technique from the Day 20 lesson of the Spring Card Camp 2 by Online Card Classes.

The technique shared by Jennifer McGuire was window weaving using thin strips of paper. I decided to use strips of blue patterned papers to create this fun cloud! I used scrap pieces of patterned paper and cut them into long strips. Then, I took a white cardstock panel cut to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and cut a cloud in the middle with the Stitched Cloud Frames die. I flipped the panel over and started the weaving. Using double sided tape along one edge of the cloud, I started adhering the paper strips in random order. After all of the strips were placed facing one way, I secured them by adding double sided tape over top of the first piece of tape. I added more tape along the adjacent edge, and started to attached the strips that would start the weaving. Once all of the pieces were weaved together, I secured everything with more tape, trimmed the patterned paper that was hanging over the edge, and attached it to a white card base. It sounds complicated, but it was really easy and a lot of fun to make. It reminded me of a small loom kit that I had as a kid!

After I attached it to the card base, I started decorating the cloud. I added a stitched frame and a cute smiley face. I added a small cloud for the Outside In Stitched Cloud die and a few colored hearts. The sentiments are from the Hero Arts and Lawn Fawn Big Thanks stamp set, and the Yay, Kites set. Here's a closer look at the weaving:

It was such a fun technique to try and I really like how the card turned out! My six year old also made a card along with me and hers turned out beautiful as well! She made a heart shape and used red and pink patterned papers - so cute!

Thanks so much for visiting today and have a great day!
